22 Weeks – Pregnancy Update

Size of Baby

This week baby is 10.9 inches and 15. 2 ounces! We’re almost at a full pound!

Weight Gain

The last couple weeks have brought marked growth to my baby bump and at the end of the day I’m often surprised at how big it’s suddenly gotten! I’ve finally started to surpass my pre-pregnancy weight and have gained about 1 pound.

New Developments

This little one grows more active with each passing day and I’ve been surprised at how much I’m already feeling! Whenever he starts moving around a lot I say he’s having a dance party in my belly. The other day I could actually feel him rolling over and my family was even able to see my belly moving from the outside! He kicks a lot but there haven’t been too many strong enough for Brady to feel from the outside but I think he’s been able to feel a couple light taps.

My belly button is starting to change shape which is a little freaky feeling. I’m also starting to get new stretch marks but they’re not too dramatic yet and I’m not going to stress about it. Yet.

Symptoms

Have you ever heard of pregnancy/mommy/baby brain before? This has really crept up on me and I’m still trying to convince Brady that this is why I keep forgetting things. The worst one happened the other day when I left my purse at my Grandma’s house and didn’t realize til we got home! She lives over an hour away so it would have been a long trek back. Luckily a family member who lives near my dad was still there so we were able to pick it up there the next day. What a pain!

I think I’ve started dealing with really intense round ligament pain. I’m not sure because it came on so suddenly after moving some things on Sunday and it still hasn’t fully gone away. The way I’m feeling seems to match up with round ligament pain but I need to check with my doctor. It’s much more intense than I ever thought it would be!

As my belly grows, the more uncomfortable sleeping becomes. I’ve been getting more bruising from my Lovenox shots in the last week and that’s made things even more difficult since it’s very uncomfortable to touch. The Lovenox shots are starting to get more difficult which has sent me into a bit of a regression with them. I was doing pretty well for most of the last month but it’s really started hurting which has made me take a lot longer to get them done because of the built up anticipation.

I’m still feeling nauseous on a daily basis with some days being significantly worse. Monday was a really bad day for me – the kind of day where it constantly feels like you’re moments away from throwing up.

I just started getting leg cramps in the night which are painful and annoying when they come out of nowhere.

Brady got a cold a couple of weeks ago and while I haven’t come down with anything yet, I’ve felt myself fighting it which has really drained me.

Food Aversions

It changes depending on how I’m feeling so we have to keep a wide range of foods in the house because it’s a big hit or miss when I’m feeling nauseous – which has been a lot lately.

Cravings

I had a big thing for Asian food the other night and I’ve also been wanting a really good veggie burger with a shake and fries. Sandwiches and salads continue to be big for me as well.

My biggest craving this last week came last night when I really wanted some frozen yogurt. Tart, fruity and cold is the perfect combo. We’ve moved to a new area so I looked up the closest location with good reviews and we left our place around 8 pm. We were there 15 minutes later which should have been fine because all the directories online have it as being open until 9 pm. Well the guy inside was cleaning and tapped his watch at us when we were looking inside as if we should have known. I was pretty sour about it as we drove another 15 minutes to a different froyo place. Lame story but it really frustrated this pregnant craving lady.

Exercise

My Fitbit died over the weekend and I haven’t managed to pull the charging cable out since we’ve moved. I was doing pretty well before it died though! This week has been really hard because Monday-Wednesday this week I have been extremely nauseated and exhausted. I don’t know why but it’s been a rough week.

Maternity/Baby Purchases

I recently received my free welcome packages from Target and Amazon for having my registries there. I was pretty impressed with the Target one since it was free with no restrictions. The Amazon one was similar with a couple of extra items but I didn’t feel like it was quite as impressive because you had to either buy it for $35 (which it is not worth!) or have purchased $10 off your registry and have Prime. I might do a review of everything I got in the boxes because I was pretty excited about them.

I’m starting to look into maternity swimsuits for this summer but I haven’t been able to find many that really stand out. If you have any recommendations, please send them my way!

Overall Feelings

So now that we’re 4 months or less from meeting our little bundle of joy, I’m realizing how little time that is and how much there is to do before he comes! We have so much painting and house reno stuff we need to get done and so far we’ve been getting things done very slowly. It’s all so exciting though and it fun to finally see the weeks getting smaller and smaller. 22 weeks down, 18 to go! Woohoo!
