Hello there and happy Thursday to all you lovelies! I’ve had a bunch of random thoughts lately that aren’t worth turning into a blog post each so here are some of my Thursday Thoughts <– linking up with Running with Spoons.
- In my quest to be an overall healthier individual, I’ve been getting quite a few groceries from Whole Foods recently. The last few times I’ve been, they’ve had an enormous jackfruit for sale at $1.99/lb which means those things cost at least $20-30. I know that jackfruit turned into fake meat is a big trend in the plant based world at the moment but it doesn’t look that appealing to me. I haven’t tried it yet and I don’t think I have the desire to either. Maybe it’s because I’ve never had pork (or any meat) so I don’t feel the need to replace it with anything.
- Where are you, autumn? This weather is crazy. I live in Maryland and it’s been too hot to even consider running outside this week. 85 degrees outside and 92-100% humidity. Not cool Maryland, not cool. I may be writing this while sipping on a cup of hot cinnamon apple tea but that’s just because it’s supposed to be fall and I’m ready for it. This was fall a year ago…
Hello there all ye lovelies. I have some distressing news to share but don’t worry, there’s a happy ending to this tale.
The USPS Story
We ordered our Disney tickets just about a month ago and they were shipped a few days later. I was expecting to get them about 2 weeks ago but they spent an extended period of time “In Transit to Destination” with no location listed. It sat like that for over a week. I began to get worried because that’s $800 just sitting in limbo. Well today they finally arrived, no thanks to the USPS because this is how it came:
Do you see the rip towards the top? It was ripped over 2/3 of the way across the top of the package which makes me feel like someone opened my mail; I mean, these bubble envelopes aren’t easy to rip. Maybe it wasn’t tampered with but I can’t be trusting. I linked them straight up to our account to make sure that no one was already trying to use them and thank goodness I didn’t have to go through the hassle of harassing the post office about stolen tickets.
The happy ending here is that we are less than 2 months away from our Disney vacay!
It’s hard to believe it’s already Thursday but this week has been great because of the day off on Monday where I was able to catch up on some things. We’re supposed to be having mid-seventies temps today so I broke out my sandals for the first time this season and I’m really excited about this. It’s going to be so hard if we have a major drop in temperature after this gorgeous weather.
Here are a few thoughts I’ve been having lately…
I started a blog about 2 years ago with the post, “When the Clothes Don’t Fit…” and I went on to register and complete an Iron Girl that summer while losing 20 pounds in the process. I was feeling good until my back twinged up really bad and then I wasn’t working out much at all anymore. I maintained weight for over a year and then this last fall while dealing with a heavy emotional load, I gained weight again and I’m fairly close to where I was 2 years ago. This is the struggle that so many of us deal with; the gaining and the losing is exhausting, depressing, and it feels like a game that can never be won. The last 2 weeks have been good weeks with positive momentum, but it can be hard to keep going… I feel like I’m walking up a never ending mountain, but I am determined and I’m trying to keep focused on my goals.
Meryl Davis and Charlie White
They’re not retiring but not planning on returning to competition which means they do not intend to go for the Olympics in 2018 to defend their gold in ice dancing. This is kind of depressing because their rivals have returned to compete in next year’s Olympics and Meryl and Charlie aren’t going to be there to compete with them. Yesterday was a sad day.
Can you believe that today is the last day of summer? I can’t believe fall is already here! I don’t love when sundown is getting earlier but it was perfect timing for me last night when I was picking up hubby from work. It was a spectacular drive.
On Sunday I went to the B&O Railroad museum with my dad, brother, step-sis, and hubby. I don’t have half the photos though because my phone is now dead forever. See below.
Today I am going to be doing my first Thinking Out Loud linkup with Amanda from Running With Spoons! I’ve been reading her blog for a while and decided that today I had some stuff I wanted to share with you so I’m going to jump right in and share some of the things I’ve been thinking about and loving lately…
1. Aly Raisman
The best news ever was announced yesterday!!! Aly Raisman isn’t planning on retiring yet and after a year off she’s going to resume training for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo! I love Aly so much and was feeling a bit bummed because it seemed like she was probably going to retire but she is so phenomenal and fun to watch. I watched the all around event live and I almost cry even just seeing this photo because it was a perfect moment.
