Day in the Life With a Toddler – 15-month-old

This day-in-the-life post is something I wish I had done periodically when Henry was younger because schedules can change a lot from month to month when they’re babies. I can’t call this a “normal” day since Henry slept in 2-3 hours later than normal, his nap was longer than usual, and Brady was home over an hour earlier than average. With that being said, it still follows the general flow of a typical day with my 15-month-old.

A Little Life Update

Hey there, it’s been a little while. I feel like I tend to hibernate through the winter months and life with a little one has kept me busy but this space has been on my mind and I’ve got a lot of things that I’m excited to share! SO to do a quick catch up, here’s what I’ve been up to the last few months.

Henry is growing like a little weed and is already getting close to being 9 months old! *insert weeping emoji* I’ve also been working on decluttering our house or, dare I say it, Marie Kondo-ing it. I was already in the process of cleaning when I saw the Netflix series and though I feel like her method is similar to how I would go through organizing, it was nice to have more depth and new methods to help me through the process. I also realized that her book has been on my Amazon book wish list for a couple years now.

My sister came home for a few days in March for Henry’s baby dedication and it was nice getting to see her since she leaves today to spend a couple months in Europe! Praying for her safety and that she’ll have a great trip even though I am slightly jealous – about to become a lot more jealous once the photos start pouring in.

At the Mall with a baby

I spend most nice days we got through the winter going on daily walks with Henry which I’m sure is the main reason I didn’t have major seasonal depression this year. It’s also been good for keeping me active. My Fitbit broke at the beginning of March and Brady was sweet to get me a new one for my birthday so I’ve been loving that.

I am just starting to attempt running again which is difficult because although I officially dropped below pre-pregnancy weight from Henry, I still have the weight from 2 previous pregnancies as well as the weight I wanted to lose before then! Ha! It’s harder running with excess weight but it’s really something that I fully want to embrace! One of the things that was motivating my on my Friday run was thinking about our upcoming trip to Australia. (We’re going to Australia for a few weeks to spend time with my grandparents since my grandfather can’t travel to the US anymore and I haven’t seen them since 2015.) Anyways, my grandparents live less than 2 miles from an absolutely gorgeous beach and I am envisioning spending many mornings running along the beach with the sunrise. So I’m keeping that in the forefront of my mind as I work to get my fitness back.

Otherwise, we’ve been celebrating a lot of birthdays and anniversaries around here. We bought a car. We’re slowly updating outdated furniture and it’s looking great! Currently on month 3 of doing a “quick upgrade” to our upstairs bathroom. We’re planning a 4th of July trip to the Outer Banks with my family. We’re planning camping trips and even an attempt at backpacking with a baby. We’re excited for a lot of the fun things coming this summer. Here’s a few photos of us enjoying spring to finish up this lil recap before Henry wakes up from his nap.

Happy Sunday! I hope you all have a good start to your week.

35 Weeks – Pregnancy Update

I meant to post last week with my 34 week update but with my pregnancy brain, I forgot my password and locked myself out of my blog… lol. Oops. I’ve been starting to accidentally add weeks to my pregnancy – I keep thinking I’m 37 weeks and after enough times of realizing that wasn’t true, I’ve apparently mentally adopted 36 weeks as how far along I am. SO here we are today with my 35 week update and man, oh man, is it feeling real that this could happen at any time.  Last week I looked at Brady as we were getting ready for bed and said, “Our baby is due next month”. I wish I had filmed his reaction because it starts with the “wow, that’s crazy and I’m excited” face that turns into the – “crap, that’s like no time to get everything done” face!

We’re both feeling the stress at the moment as we’ve been working really hard (mostly Brady) to finish painting the rooms that are getting new carpet installed tomorrow! Home projects are extremely time consuming but thankfully we’ve had so much help over the last couple months and weeks especially. I love the color that got painted in the nursery and I can’t wait to share photos once we’ve built the furniture and put the room together!

One of the things that I’ve been terrible with this pregnancy is taking belly photos. It’s something I’ve wanted to do because it’s exciting to see the progression… but I keep forgetting, or not feeling in the mood to have photos taken so I am a bit disappointed in myself. Here’s my belly saying goodbye to the old orange carpet.

A Weekend of Wedding Festivities

On Sunday, one of my oldest friends got married! Lisa and I met back when we were 9 when I had first moved to the US. It was another 2 years before we became close friends but we’ve been through so much together in the last 17 years! We’ve spent hours talking about boys, movies, adventures, becoming adults, going to college, getting married, and having families! It’s incredible the number of memories we have together and this is one of those really special ones.ย

For her bachelorette party, we had a Thai food dinner before going to a painting party!

Our Peter Rabbit Baby Shower

On Sunday my sister threw us the sweetest Peter Rabbit Baby Shower! We had the shower “early” at 28 weeks for a typical baby shower since my sister leaves for summer camp in Tennessee next week. It works out well that it was early though because it gives us a few weeks to really finish up the nursery and get organized before I’m in the depths of the third trimester.

With a Peter Rabbit baby shower, there are so many opportunities for adorable set ups and I was blown away by the effort put in by my sister, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law (with help from other family members as well!) It was overwhelming to receive so much love in anticipation of our little one’s arrival but I am so grateful.

My dress is a non-maternity wrap dress that I ordered from Just Fab (so I could finally cancel my subscription). I ordered it in an XL and had to do some tailoring myself to get it to fit normally since the waist is supposed to sit much lower. It took about 1-2 hours for me to get it right, but I’m so glad I was able to figure it out since I felt really pretty in the dress and it seemed like the perfect baby shower dress for a hot day!
