The Perfect Spring Weekend Recap

I don’t know what it was like where you were, but the weather around here at the end of last week was oh my goodness so gorgeous. I talk a lot about the weather because my mood has always been pretty linked with how the sky is feeling; Winter makes me depressed and sunshiny days make me happy. This weekend was a mood booster for sure so get ready for lots of snaps!

Thursday was the first mid-seventies day and I celebrated by hanging out on the deck with my cat after work.

Friday was day 2 of beautiful warm weather and I got to take off my sweater and soak in the warmth while the kids played for an hour at recess.

After work on Friday, Brady and I decided to walk to Lake Kittamaqundi in downtown Columbia. We debated the distance of the walk while we were out and when I looked it up later, we had walked about 4.5 miles. I was so happy because I got to wear a t-shirt and capri leggings while we were out. This was actually our first time going around this lake but it will not be our last.

All week they’d been calling for 100% rain on Saturday so we didn’t have any hopes of getting outside on the last warm day before temperatures dropped again on Sunday. However, when we woke up Saturday morning, the sun was up and it was just calling us to come outside. We hopped on our bikes and decided to ride from our place down to and around Lake Elkhorn which is about 12 miles round trip.

I filled my hoodie pouch with a couple handfuls of cashews for breakfast and we were on our way. The trail goes past Lake Kittamaqundi and across a pedestrian bridge over Route 29 before connecting to a network of neighborhood pathways that lead to Elkhorn.

We had a couple of directional issues on the ride there since it was our first time and Brady didn’t believe me when I told him the way he wanted to go was the wrong way… I was right.

We stopped a few times on our way around Elkhorn because there were turtles sunbathing everywhere and they were so cute! I even ended up pulling off my sweater shortly after these photos because I was getting too hot in the sun.

I love the morning hours for being outside and it was so nice that the two of us were able to go out and ride together since most mornings are either work days or too tired to move mornings. We did end up having a short shower that came through in the late afternoon that was followed by a huge rainbow that I missed seeing.

On Sunday I did our grocery shopping for the week at Aldi and then hung out a Target for a while trying on some of the sandals and shoes that are on sale this week.

As I was pulling into the parking lot to run into Michaels, I happened to notice a few of these trees lining the entrance and I had to pull over to snap a pic! I love cherry blossom season and I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of the blossoms down on the Tidal Basin in DC.

I bought a stick of bubbles from the dollar section in Target while I was out and I learned something sad and hilarious. My cat is scared of bubbles. Like run away in terror and hide from you while the bubbles are flying around kind of afraid. I gave her snuggles while she was recovering from my repeated blowing of bubbles in her direction. It’s sad because I actually thought that she’d enjoy popping them but boy was I wrong.

The weekend ended with making the Oscars on Sunday night. Brady and I made a list of predictions to compare as we watched the show and I ended up winning by 4 categories with a final score of 13/24. Failing grade but I still won. I did my nails while I was watching and proved to Brady that I have too much nail polish.

I went with my absolute favorite spring color “Cardshark” by Revlon. I love this color because the cherry blossom pink color is flattering and personally I think it’s quite adorable. Of course I messed it up 20 times before it finished drying but home manicures a free manicures.

Now that I’ve shared about my weekend, let me know about yours!

What did you get up to this weekend? Any big plans for this week?

What’s your favorite brand of nail polish and your favorite nail polish color?

Did you watch the Oscars?

How about that shocking and super awkward ending?!
